N.Z. SURF LIFE-SAVING ASSOCIATION
The council of the New Zealand Surf Life-saving Association,at a-recent meeting decided to invite district associations and individual clubs to apply to conduct the 1945 national championships. The closing'date of applications Is May 31. A recommendation of the national board of judges referring to women’s four-man alarm contests was considered, and it was decided to procure medical opinion from the association’s medical advisers as well as an expression of opinion from district associations and clubs. Runanga miners, recognizing the necessity of adequate protection for bathers on the seven-mile beach, are undertaking instruction of a beach patrol. The Greymouth club has donated equipment and the council has given educational handbooks. The Wellington association advised that in response to an appeal for instructional education in surf life-saving by the Petone Junior Labour Movement, it was arranging a field day carnival on the Petone beach.
