Wellington Mayoralty
The names of Mr. C. H. Chapman, M.P., for Wellington North, Mr. P. M. Butler, secretary of the General Labourers’ Union, and Mr. J. Roberts, president of the New Zealand Labour Party, are mentioned as- Labour nominees lor tne office of mayor of Wellington at the May election. ~ , Two others are said to have been approached. Mr. R. MeKeen, member for Wellington South, stated positively that he would not be a nominee, as he was fully occupied with his duties as member of Parliament for a large district and chairman of committees in the House. Mr. MeKeen does not even intend being a nominee for the City Council, of which he is at present the only Labour memtC A. selection ballot to choose candidates will be held ou a date to be fixed at a meeting of the Labour Representation Committee on Wednesday.
