Sterling Funds Increase

The sterling exchange funds of the Reserve Bank on February 7 totalled ' £36.■108.166. a further increase of £578,146. The note issue at £36,407.376. shows a decrease for the week of £168,533. The statement as at Monday, February 7. is as follows ■ • LIABILITIES.

The reserve on February 7 was £39,175,317. an increase of £578.772. A year ago the reserve was £32,382.733. Sterling exchange on February 7 amounted to £36,408,168. an increase of £578,146. Liabilities in currencies other than New Zealand currency total £34.726 (a decrease of £626). thus making the bank’s net overseas assets £30.373,440. compared with £35.704,668 on January 31. an increase of £578.772. A rear ago these assets amounted to £20,560.856. , Advances to the State Marketing Department total £683.430. an increase of £267. A year ago they were £650.829. Advances to-the State for other purposes remain unchanged at £40.635.000. against £30.000,000 a year ago. , The note issue on February 7 stood at £36,407.376, a decrease of £168,533. A year ago it was £29,057,559. Demand liabilities to the State amount to £16.217,050. an increase of £1.443.350. The trading banks* reserve-balances total £36.466.006. a decrease of £1,468,200.
