WANGANUI, February 9. Freeman R. Jackson report that to a good attendance they offered 7000 sheep and lambs at the Wanganui sale. The market showed a marked improvement on last week, bidding being more sustained, and there was practically a total clearance under the hammer. This was thair , yarding of breeding ewes, and included the two complete flocks ot the H. Kempthorne estate and Messrs. Wickham, and Allen, both from high hilly back country. They came forward in quite good order, in spite of seven days droving to the yards. As today’s sale proceeded, the market improved from pen to pen. and at the close of the sale only an odd small lot remained unsold. Beef sold at late rates, as also did an pigs and vealers. Realizations: — Sheep: Fat two-tooth wethers, 22/6 to 24/0: fat maiden. ewes, to 21/9; fat ewes, 13/6 to 16/6: fat lambs, 21/9 to 24/B;fourvear ewes, 19/- to 21/-: five-year, 16/9 Jo 19/-; tail-end, 6/10 to 14/9; six-year to 17/7; medium two-tooth ewes, to small, 17/6 to 21/4; four-tooth, 24/3 to 26/3; six-tooth, 22/3 to 23/2; mixed age. 11/8 to 15/7: small two-tooth wethers, 18/6 to 20/-; mixed age, 19/6 to 2°/*5 average ewe lambs, 18/4 to -0/-; medium, 13/7 to 15/-; culls, 10/- to 12/8; medium lambs, 12/1 to 13/6; culls, 7/- to 9/6; shorn down lambs, 12/3 to 15/9; culls, 9/5 to 10 Cattle: Fat P.A. cows, £7/10/- to £8 6/-; fat Jersey heifers, £5/5/- to £u/10/-; forward cows, £3/7/- to £4/10/-; bulls, to £6.
