U.S. RAIL TROUBLE SETTLED
WASHINGTON, January 18. President Roosevelt has announced the settlement of the railway wage dispute. Non-operating workers will receive an increase of 9 to 11 cents an hour. Mr. Roosevelt has authorized the Secretary of War, Mr. Stimson, to relinquish army control of the railroads when ho is satisfied that legal requirements have been fulfilled.
The settlement provides that non-oper-ating employees receiving less than 47 cents an hour will receive an increase of 11 cents: those receiving from 47 to 57 cents will receive 10 cents more; all others will be increased by nine cents.
