AUSTRALIAN BUSHFIRES
(Received January 18, 9.40 p.m.) SYDNEY, January 18. Stock losses in bushfires which raged in Victoria and New South Wales have been variously estimated at between 200,000 and 1,000,000, mostly sheep. The Federal Government has granted £200,000 for bushfire relief. Another death from bushfires has been reported in Victoria, bringing the total to 20. Fifty-two people are in hospitals throughout Victoria suffering from shock or burns, some in serious condition. No human death from fires has been reported in Wales, but-there is a heavy death-roll in stock.
