More than ISO,OOO Yugoslav patriots, with British and other Allied officers as advisers, are carrying out full-scale operations against the German aud satellite forces, says the “Sunday Express.” The Germans are rushing forces to Dalmatia in an effort to regain control, but German military commentators admit that the Yugoslavs hold strong mountain positions. The Free Yugoslav radio claims that practically the whole of the Adriatic coast is in Partisan hands. Idria has been captured and Trieste is being stormed, and the railway lines between Ljubljana, Trieste and Flume have been ejit. A communique of the Yugoslav People’s Army of Liberation states: “At Split Partisan forces have repulsed a great number of German attacks and inflicted heavy losses. In Slovenia a violent battle is raging for the town of Gorizia, 20 miles north-north-west of Trieste. Under heavy German pressure the Partisans have abandoned the aerodrome of Gorizia and the southern outskirts of the city. In these operations several tanks were destroyed. “In the. province of Lika, in Croatia, a German attack was repulsed. The Germans were forced back to the Hue Barac-Knin. A Yugoslavia communique yesterday said that when German ships attempted a landing on two islands west of the naval base at Dubrovnik, one ship laden with troops aud war material was sunk and others were driven off. Units destroyed the railway line near Sarajevo for a length of 2i miles. British motor torpedo-boats carried out a daring raid on Tuesday night against enemy shipping in the Bay of Avlona, southern Albania. Four tor-pedo-boats,'after crossing. the Adriatic Sea, ran the gaunlet of fire from shore batteries and entered the bay. They sank a merchantman laden with ammunition aud a small ship, and scored torpedo hits on two other vessels. One torpedo-boat was damaged by battery fire, but was able to return to base with the other craft.
