Interest in the general election is considerably heightened by the publication in the “N.Z.E.F. Tinies” ot the policy statements of the contestant parties, and the general topic of conversation among the New Zealand troops is the discussion of the merits and demerits of tlie respective candidates, and tlie aims and. objects of tlie various political organizations. Most revealing are the many and varied forms in which democracy can be applied, but Hie furnishing of tlie policy .statements, as well as a full identification ot every candidate, has nt least prevented soldiers from voting in the dark. „ Four pages of the 'tN.Z.l‘..k. Tinies are devoted to the election, of. which the organization extends from Cairo to luiioli in the west and to the Turkish border in the cast. Every effort has been made to facilitate the voting, which it is honed will be completed within the next few days in order that the results may be forwarded to New Zealand in time lor inclusion in the Dominion returns, lolling is being carried out in the fieid during mobile training as well as iu base and non-divisioual units.
