COAL SHORTAGE

Supplies For Wellington Held Up As retail coal-dealers iu Wellington have received no coal for more than a week, there is an acute shortage and most of the firms are now between tour and live weeks behind with their orders. The absence of coal has in the main been due to bad weather on the West Coast. The manager of one coal company said yesterday that there were two steamers loaded with coal at Westport. As soon as thev were able to leave port and arrive at Wellington it would not take very long to catch up with the orders, particularly as, with warmer temperatures, the demand for household purposes was not so keen as it was a month ago.
