LABOUR CAMPAIGNING
Battery Of Ministers In Christchurch East Dominion Special Service. CHRISTCHURCH, February 3. Three members of the War Cabinet, three Ministers of the domestic Cabinet, and four members of Parliament will constitute the battery of speakers brought into the Christchurch East electorate to support the Labour Party’s candidate by the time the campaign concludes. Iwo War Cabinet Ministers. Mr. Jones and Mr. Sullivan, who is also Deputy-Prime Minister, have already spoken, and the Prime Minister, Mr. Fraser, spoke tonight. , , , ~ The Minister of Public Yorks, Mr. Semple, spent five days in the. electorate, and the last-appointed Minister, Mr. O'Brien, spent four days in the campaign. The Minister of Labour, Mr. Webb, was in the city for a week, and made one public appearance not connected with the by-election, but after a flying visit to Wellington, he will be back tomorrow to do active campaigning. Mr. Osborne, M.P., who is shortly to be appointed a Parliamentary under-sec-retary, has been organizing for Miss Howard, and has spoken at almost every meeting. Assistance has also been given on the hustings by three members, Mrs. Drearer (Waitemata), Mr. Meachen (Marlborough), and Mr. C. M. Williams (Kaiapoi).
