TEMPO SLOWING DOWN
Drive In Caucasus
LONDON, August 12.
Though the Germans are still pressing forward in the Caucasus, the tempo of their drive is slowing down. Two German attacks have been beaten off at Cberkask, and Russian reserves are moving up east of the town. In the Maikop area the Russians are counter-attacking. In the Don bend the most dangerous German attack is at Kalach, only 50 miles west of Stalingrad.
