Fresh Plea By Laval
LONDON, August 11
"The hour of liberation for France will be the hour when Germany wins the war,” declared M, Laval addressing 1000 French war prisoners at Compiegne, where they were exchanged for workers going to Germany. He added: “You will better understand France now you have returned. You know the bitterness of exile. You are the best workers for the lilieratioii of your comrades who are still in prison camps. There are still 1,200,000 French war prisoners in Germany. Hitler seeks 150,000 specialized workers and bao agreed to re-
lease 50,000 prisoners when they are dispatched.” Moscow radio said that thousands of French war prisoners at Hessen in Germany are working from 14 to 16 hours a day. They are fed on soup made from rotten groats and often do not receive bread. The oick are not given medical aid and from 10 to 15 die daily.
