MOTOR REGISTRATIONS

Wellington Increase 457

Motor-vehicle registrations in Wellington for the 1942-43 licensing period had, up till Friday,. reached 17,536, compared with 17,079 at the same time of last year, an increase of 457. This year’s total does not include approximately 1000 Government vehicles registered in another part of the viistriet. The decrease in registrations for private cars has been only about 16 per cent., notwithstanding the large number of these vehicles Impressed during the last licensing year. Private car registrations at present total 9907, compared with 12,279 at the corresponding period of hist year. Registrations of Government vehicles have increased by more than 2000. Registrations of commercial vehicles have varied little, though a certain number have been impressed.
