The Industrial Emergency Council, which is made up of employers ami workers’ representatives, can consider applications tmd make, recommendatious to the Minister of Labour, who lias power to make orders for .the suspension of awards, or parts, in order to meet present war conditions. Ihis wag stated by the Minister of Labour, Mr. Webb, iu New Plymouth, in answer to a question about the possibility of workers doing extra hours on Saturday morning instead of overtime at night. If workers desired to work on Saturday morning in .preference to overtime at night, that was largely a question of office organization as far as the State Departments were concerned.
