MARKED INCREASE
Enrolments In E.P.S. Enrolments in thb E.P.S. organization' in Wellington now total foughly 14,000, and the secretary, Mr. A. J. Hines, has been having a busy time dealing with the applications. Additional staff and more facilities are being provided. There were about 11,000 enrolments when Japan entered the war on December 8, but the same night the mail brought in the largest numbei of applications yet handled. Besides the stimulus of the Japanese threat, suggestions :hat compulsory fire-watching and membership of the E.P.S. are about to be introduced have had a marked effect in providing an incentive for new members to join the E.P.S.
