WELSH SOCIETY’S EVENING

The Welsh Society recently held a North and South Wales evening. The programme was compiled by members representing both parts of the principality. Items were contributed by Mrs. McLeod, Mrs. Bacon, Mrs. Campbell, Miss Jean Dinny, and Mr. D. Evans. Mrs. Mardon gave a short talk on the origin of the leek as one of the Welsh national emblems, and Mr. John Tucker gave an interesting item in the form of .1 song, the words of which were his own composition, set to the music of one of the earliest fifteenth century Welsh war marches, entitled “The Call of the. King.” The accompanists were Mrs. Tucker and Miss Campbell.
