E-BOATS HOUNDED
Successes By Navy And R.A.F. (British Official Wireless., RUGBY, November 21. A successful action by naval and air force units against German E-boats is announced in the following Admiralty communique:— “One E-boat was sunk, two others probably sunk, and others damaged, in engagements with our naval patrols and coastal forces on the night of November 10. Shortly Itcfore midnight an engagement took place off the east coast, in which two E-boats were probably sunk, without damage Io our forces. “In the early hours of the morning of November 20 one of our patrols, consisting of two light craft, encountered six E-boats. Oqr patrols at once engaged the enemy, closing the range to within 200 yards. This action lasted about half an hour, during which one E-boat was certainly sunk, and others hard hit and damaged. Our patrols suffered no casualties, though minor damage was sustained by two vessels. It was after this engagement that lighters of the R.A.F. located the E-boats on their way back to their base and sank one and damaged a second.” An official communique states that enemy aircraft dropped a few bombs in lhe south-west of England and .South Wales early on Hie night of November 20. Little'damage was done, but at one place a small number of casualties has been reported.
