BALL AT HIGH SCHOOL

Funds For Dinner For Old Boys Overseas

To provide funds for a dinner for old boys serving overseas, which it. is hoped will be at Christmas time, a ball was held at the Hutt Valley High School on Saturday night. The effort, organized by the old pupils’ association, was largely attended oy old pupils and their friends. There was much reminiscence with regard to the old boys overseas and news exchanged as to their welfare. Miss Yoland Hunter, an old girl of the school, who was one of the W.W.S.A. girls selected to serve overseas, in a letter received last week, said how appreciative the men were, not only of what the girls were able to do for them, but of news from borne. Among those present were Mr. J. A. Millard, principal of the High School, and Mrs. Millard, and members of the staff and board of governors. Yellow broom was massed on the stage and in the windows and the patriotic touch provided by flags and pennants emphasized the spirit of the evening. A buffet supper was served, the tables being decorated with forget-me-nots. A stall did brisk business in selling icecreams rind soft drinks. The committee responsible for the success Of the evening comprised Misses Margaret Ogilvie, secretary; Moira Cameron, Peggy Campbell, Betty Bidgett. Juno Hunter and Messrs. Bari ton" Whit more and John Cooper.
