Y.M.C.A. DANCE AT LOWER HUTT
The Hutt Valley branch of the Y.M.C.A. held another of its increasingly popular old-time dances at Waterloo on Saturday night. A home-made supper was served, and during the dance soft drinks were obtainable. After supper the finals of the waltzing contest were judged, an'd Mr. and Mrs. Melrose, the winners, were presented with two cups. Near the conclusion of a successful evening Mr. Kato, who conducted the dance, announced that the forthcoming event would be a flannel dance. The evening was brought to a close by the singing of the National Anthem.
The New Zealand Women Writers and Artists’ Society in Wellington met recently in the public library, where Mr. Perry, of the library staff, showed members how to make the best use of all the facilities offered there. Special interest centred in the reference room and the fine arts section, and in tire section for quick reference, where Mr. Perry showed how information of the latest happenings could be found. The society held its first library criticism afternoon this mouth, when members’ work was read. It was decided that these afternoons should be con tinned.
