PATRIOTIC CONCERT

To Help Guild Parcels’ Fund

The Petone branch of the New Zealand Union of Townswomen’s Guilds held a successful concert recently at Petone, in aid of the A.N.A. parcels fund. The hall was beautifully decorated with spring flowers. Mrs. C. G. Noble presided over a large audience. The guild choir, under the baton of Mrs. W. E. Gould, opened the programme, others who gave items being Mrs. Johnstone, Mrs. Mclntyre, and four small girls, Nancy Logan, Andrena Goldie, Annette Hoddinot and Doreen Howard. Afternoon tea was served, and during the interlude Mrs. Passmore won a competition, the prize being a fireside chair given by Mr. H. Green. The second portion of the programme was submitted by women of the Eastbourne Guild. A musical production entitled “We Can’t Win the War Without a Uniform” was produced by Mesdames Robinson, president of the guild, and Mrs. Hanton. Mrs.- Noble thanked ad performers and presented them with gifts of flowers, Mrs. Robinson and Mrs. Hanton receiving boxes of flowers.
