There were more than 70 members at the luncheon, which bad a patriotic motive. A special cake was decorated with miniature flags of the Allied countries, and they also decorated the table. Pride of place in the centre of the table, on either side of a large floating bowl of yellow irises, were the two “Victory” flags, the Union Jack and tho Stars and Stripes, Mrs. J. A. Doctor, president of the league, wished the guest of honour every success in her career, and Miss Gilmer replied. Mrs. Knox Gilmer and Sister M. Hitchman, who recently returned from the campaign In Crete and Greece, were also guests of the league. Earlier in the day, a lovely basket of flowers was sent to Miss Gilmer at her home as a gift from the league members.
