Effort For Distressed British Nurses

The nursing staff of St. Helens Hospital, Wellington, entertained their friends at a concert to raise funds for distressed British nurses. The programme, arranged by Nurse Whittaker, was bright and full of variety, the following artists contributing items:—Recitations by Miss Freda Whittaker, Palmerston North, and- Mrs. Kirk; songs by Mrs. O'Regan, Miss Vinsen, and nursing staff; dances by Mrs. Walters, Miss Ericksen, and Miss Shadlow’s pupils; exercises by Alexandra Hospital staff; and a piano and violin duo by Messrs. Mac Gill. Miss Boyce, the matron, thanked the guests for coming and for their generous response. Supper was served in the nurses din-ing-room and the hall, which was arranged as a lounge. _ This effort of the nurses reaLzed ;U4 13/-, which will be forwarded to the Dominion secretary of the Registered Nurses’ Association who controls the fund for distressed British nurses.
