MID-WINTER DANCE

Social Event At Y.M.C.A.

A special word of thanks for the fine voluntary work of various womens groups on behalf of the Wellington Y.M.C.A. was given by the president, Mr. R. H. Ninuno, at the association’s mid-winter dance last night. Among those groups he mentioned were the senior women’s auxiliary, of which Mrs. Nimmo is president; the boys division auxiliary, with Mrs. Horace Brooker as president; the girls’ auxiliary, Miss M. Burnley; and the W.W.S.A’., of which Mrs. M. J. Bentley Is convener. A special tribute, was also paid to those individual voluntary workers who are conducting classes and sponsoring the work of the association generally. The dance is the main social occasion of the Y.M.C.A. year, and offers an opportunity for younger members of all sections and associated groups within the association to meet together. Two hundred young people danced in the large gymnasium to the music of gn orchestra led by W. Mitchell, and there were several entertaining items and novelty numbers.
