BUDGET DEBATE

No Estimate Of Likely

Duration

No estimate of the likely duration of the Budget debate, in which the Opposition has ceased to take part, has been formed by the Acting-Prime Minister, Mr. Nash, He said last night that he had no idea how long the debate would continue. The last Opposition speakers were heard on Wednesday afternoon. There was a succession of Government members on Thursday and again on Friday, and it is likely that, except for the two Independents in the House who may take part, the coming week will see a continuation of a one-sided debate. Mr. Nash added that it was his intention to reply in due course. He said that the Estimates would be the next business to come before the House, and there would also be some Bills introduced shortly.
