Mr. C. S. Munn, secretary of the Industrial Emergency Council, is visiting Auckland. Mr. W. J. Sim, K.C., and Mr. P. B. Cooke, K.C., loft Wellington for Nelson by the Matangi on Saturday night.

Dr. J. F. Filmer, of the Entomological Division of the Department of Agriculture, returned to Wellington from the south on .Saturday.

Dr. Alexander Gillies, who has been In the United Kingdom for the past 12 months, returned recently. During his absence he has discharged in an honorary capacity the functions of Red Cross Commissioner.

Mr. H. W. Dallison, Christchurch, manager of the Addington railway workshops, who has been appointed workshops superintendent in Wellington, was honoured by the Addington workers at a smoke concert recently, and gifts were presented to him. Mr. Jasper Clark, who has completed 30 years as a director and 16 years as chairman of the Otago Farmers’ Co-operative Association, was presented last week with a gold watch, suitably inscribed, in recognition of his years of service. The presentation was macle by fellow directors.

Wing Commander 11. B. Burrell, O 8.E., officer commanding Hobsonville air base, has been transferred to Air Headquarters, Wellington. Wing Commander E. T. Hewlett, D. 5.0., O 8.E., commanding officer at Ohakea, will take charge at Hobsonville. Squadron Leader M. F. Calder, chief flying instructor at Wigram, has been promoted to acting-wing commander and appointed to take command at Ohakea. _
