£5O Toward Rehabilitation Of Soldiers

A cheque for £5O from the girl members of Webby’s Club, Wellington, as their first contribution toward the funds for the rehabilitation of the returned men of the 2nd N.Z.E.F., wars’ presented to Colonel Cowles, president of the Wellington R.S.A. at a ceremony In the club on Friday.

The whole purpose of the elub is devoted toward this end, and the sum represented six mouths’ activity on the part of the girls. The club now has the sole lease of the rooms and working bees are being arranged for their redecoration. Several donations of chairs, forms and ping-pong tables and a large selection of magazines have been gratefully received. The members a're greatly indebted to those friends who so kindly and regularly provide the home-made suppers.

During Saturday evening’s dance, three Maori boys from Fort Dorset sang to the accompaniment of guitars and gave hakas.
