Mr. Buchanan, who was about 72 years old. took a keen interest in Ihe work of the New Zealand Ealiners’ Union, tin- Young Earmers’ Club of Southern Hawke's Bay. and in local body affairs. He was one of the earliest settlers in (lie Waitaliora district, where he was well-known and highly respected.
