Beautiful Baby Exhibition.
AU lovers of small children will be interested in the Beautiful Baby Exhibition of photographs in the D.I.C. Icunge, Wellington, from May 20 to 31. There are some delightful studies of elmrming babes in the exhibition, which is in aid of the I’lunket Society's funds. All tl'.ose interested in this worthy cause are invited to the oflieial opening tomorrow afternoon at 3 o’clock.
Women in Civic Life. Mrs. Howe-Martin, England, in tin interesting talk at the May meeting of the Karori Townswomen’s Guild (Dominion Federation) spoke on “Women in Civic Life.” Mrs. Bowe gave solos, and an amusing sketch by the drama circle was enjoyed.
Helpful Soldier. Appreciation of the liuspitalit.' shown him at Webby’s Club for the men of the Forces, Wellington, was very practically demonstrated by a soldier at the weekend, when lie quietly carried out several carpentry jobs about, the rooms. These greatly increased the usefulness of several facilities-. including making more space for hanging greatcoats in the cloakroom. I’etone Townswomen's Guild. Interesting sketches of Llie evacuation of school children at the beginning of the war were given at the meeting of the Betone branch of the New Zealand Union of Townswomen’s Guild by Mrs. AV. J. Mountjoy, of Wellington. who. with her husband, was teaching in London at the time. The speaker was presented wills a large bouquet of autumn-tinted flowers. Mesdnmes Taylor and N. Leibez.eit presented voeal duets, and the latter solos. Mrs. 1-. Anders-on was the accompanist. The urania circle presented a humorous play.
