Vice-Regal. Their Excellencies the GovernorGeneral and Lady Newall, attended by Wing Commander 11. C. Bevan and Captain O. J. Holland-Martin, A.D.C., returned to Wellington yesterday morning by the steamer after their first official visit to Christchurch. Ministerial. The Hou. P. K. Paikea,-representa-tive of the Native race on the Executive Council, returned to Wellington by flay Limited yesterdiry from the Tauranga, Coromandel and Hokianga districts. Lieutenant-Colonel M, Osborne arrived at Wellington from the south yesterday morning. Mr. D. G. B. Morison, Lower Hutt, was elected president of the Wellington District Law Society at the annual general meeting recently. Mr. J. M. Hardcastle, Auckland, general manager of the “New Zealand Herald,” left Wellington by last night’s express for the north. Mr. Frank Tait, Melbourne, one of the managing directors of J. C. Williamson, Ltd., will arrive from Auckland by the express this morning.
Mr. E. S. L. Esdaile, Wellington, general manager of the Dominion Life Assurance Office of New Zealand, Ltd., left last night for Auckland. Wing Commander E. G. Olson, Royal New Zealand Air Force,' returned to Wellington from the South Island by the steamer express yesterday morning.
Mr. A. R. Galbraith, city engineer at Christchurch, will end. his period of service with the Christchurch City Council on April 1. Mr. E. Somers will then take office in that capacity.
Mr. A. Fellow, chief postmaster in Wanganui for the past two years, has been appointed chief postmaster in Wellington. Mr. D. McCown it, New Plymouth, will succeed Mr. Pellow in Waiiganul.
The Rev, A, 11. Fowles, who lias been in charge of (lie Oxford Methodist Church, Canterbury, for the last three years, will leave shortly, his last Sunday being April 6. He will be succeeded by the Rev. G. Hall, Okato, Taranaki.
Mr. Colin Campbell Alkman was admitted as a barrister, and Mr. Victor James Palmer, now a member of the sth Reinforcement, N.Z.E.F., was admitted as a solicitor of the Supreme Court of New Zealand by the Chief Justice (Sir Michael Myers) in the Supreme Court, Wellington, on Monday. Both were admitted on the motion of Mr. R. H. Webb.
