FITNESS THROUGH SERVICE

There has been received for review a valuable little handbook, “Fitness Through Service,” which has been generously donated to the British nation by the board of directors of Horlicks Ltd., Slough, England. This little booklet should prove of inestimable service to trainee leaders under the Fitness for Service Scheme inaugurated by the British Central Council for Recreative Physical Training.; for physical training instructors in all the services; for coaches, sports masters, and instructors at universities, public’ and secondary schools, all of whom can have copies free on request to their associations, their responsible authorities, or to Horlicks. 1

The author is Captain O. L, Owen, who now holds the War Office appointment of supervising officer for physical training, and who also acts as assistant honorary secretary of the British Army Boxing Association. In civil life, for many years, Captain Owen has been or the staff of “The Times,” London, as a special correspondent, and his writings on Rugby football, boxing and athletics, especially, have a world-wide reputation. The editor, Mr. B. M. Turner, editor of “World Sports,” says that if Britain wants more than this edition of 30,000 copies, Horlicks have agreed to provide them.
