The following interest-free loans and donations to the 'War Expenses Account were acknowledged yesterday by the Minister of Finance, Mr. Nash :— Miss M. E. I’, Moore, Masterton, duration and six months, £27; Mutual Building and Investment Society of Hawke's Bay, duration and six months, £500; staff, I’ahiatua Hospital, gift, £2 6/3; J. A. I’erano and Co., duration and 12 months, £500; B. J. Ball (N.Z.), Ltd., Auckland, monthly contribution, £i>oo; E. W Mair, Ostend, Waiheke Island, gift. £2/9/7; Miss Isabella Stuart, c/o Y.WC.A., Upper Queen Street, Auckland, C.l, gift. 10/-; Mr. R. D. Taylor, I’apakura, gift, £3; Mrs. Millie E. Ramsbottom Warwick Road. Stratford, gifts, 29.1.41 £l. 26.2.41 £1 : Dr. ,1. G. Gow, Tapua R.D.. Oamaru, gift, 5/The total received to date is £2.657,670. The Minister recently received a small donation from the children of the Featherston Methodist Sunday school and five little children who gave a concert in their home. It was their desire that the proceeds be made available for the relief of refugee' children in England. In acknowledging the gift the Minister expressed his appreciation of the spirit which lay behind it. and said it was a further indication of the desire of the people of New Zealand, young and old, to assist in the great effort in which we are now engaged.
