“It is an improvement, but only a slight one,” said the chairman of the Auckland Electric Powe:- Board, Mr. S. J. Harbutt, at. a meeting of the board ou Monday, when the general manager, Mr. R. 14. Bartley, presented an interim report on the coal position. Mr. Bartley said the board had received 3000 tons during the past week, and further quantities were expected shortly. The board's plant at King's Wharf, however, was consuming between 1800 and 2000 tons weekly, so that it was practically working “from hand to month.” Reserves were not being built up as they should be to make the position relatively satisfactory.
