MINISTERIAL. The Hon. W. E. Parry, Minister of Internal Affairs, will return to Wellington today from Auckland. The Hon. H. G. R. Mason, Minister of Education, will visit Norsewood this afternoon to. open a new school. The Hon. A. H. Nordmeyer, Minister of Health, returned to Wellington yesterday from the north. The Minister will leave Wellington tomorrow for Nelson. Mr. J. Fletcher travelled south from Wellington by last night’s steamer express. Mr. C. M. Turrell, general manager of the New Zealand Shipping Company, Ltd., returned to Wellington from the South Island yesterday. Mr. A. W. Croskery, secretary of the New Zealand Shop Assistants’ Federation, returned to Wellington from the South Island yesterday. Mr. W. T. Ikin, general manager for New Zealand of the A.M.P. -Society, returned to Wellington yesterday from the South Island. Mr. H. D. Acland, president of the New Zealand Sheepowners’ Federation, was an arrival at Wellington from the south yesterday.

Mr. G. L. Riley, secretary of the New Zealand Drapers’ Federation, returned to Wellington from Auckland yesterday.

Major W. W. Dove, M.C., N.Z.S.C., has been appointed G. 5.0.1., Northern Military District and promoted to the rank of lieutenant-colonel. Mr. J. P. Flood, president of the Lyttelton Waterside Workers’ Union, left Wellington last night on his return to the South Island.

The Rev. J. T. Holland, vicar of Featherston and son of the Bishop of Wellington, is joining the N.Z.E.F. as a chaplain. Professor T. Sizer, of Yale University United States, arrived at Wellington from Auckland yesterday, accompanied by Mrs. Sizer.

Flight-Lieutenant G. R. Magill, D.F.C., formerly of Hamilton, has been promoted to the rank of squadronleader. He is stationed in North Africa. Mr. G. Hedge, who has been a member of the Te Aroha Borough Council for 22 years and has for many years been deputy-mayor, has decided not to seek re-election.

Mr. Charles Clabburn, managing director of Makower, Mcßeath and Company, Ltd., was an arrival at Wellington by the steamer express from the south yesterday.

Mr. A. Grayson, vice-president of the North Island Motor Union, is visiting Wellington, where he will be engaged for about a week on Automobile Association business.

Major H. C. Glendining, D. 5.0., N.Z. S.C., has been appointed officer commanding administration, Northern Military District, and promoted to the rank of lieutenant-colonel. Colonel R. A. Row, D. 5.0., N.Z.S.C., formerly officer commanding the Central Military District, is on temporary duty overseas. Before that he was officer commanding the Northern Field Force and Lieutenant-Colonel D. E. Bremner, M.C., N.Z.S.C., has been appointed to succeed him in this post. Lieutenant-Colonel J. Hardie Neil, D. 5.0., New Zealand Medical Corps, has been appointed regional deputy under the National Medical Committee for the Northern Military District. He will succeed. Lieutenant-Colonel D. N. W. Murray, C.M.G., D. 5.0., who has been appointed to command the medical unit being established in the hospital ship Maunganul. Lieutenant-Colonel Hardie Neil is a well-known specialist and had distinguished service in the last war. He is a past president of the Auckland Officers’ Club.
