OVERSEAS BALLOT
Minister’s Analysis Of Results An analysis of the results of the ballot for overseas service which was held on February 13 and February 14 was given by the Minister of National Service, Mr. Semple, last evening. The names drawn in this ballot were published in the Press yesterday. Mr. Semple said the total number of men drawn was 19,000, distributed as follows: : —Auckland. 2984; Paeroa, 1104, Whangarei, 658; Hamilton, 1223; Wellington, 2572; Wanganui, 1282; Napier, 1522; New Plymouth 833; Nelson, 1320; Christchurch, 2760; Dunedin, 1402; Invercargill, 1340. Of the men thus called up for overseas service, 1113 were volunteer members of the territorial forces and 8947 were previously drawn in one or the other of the two territorial ballots. “The statutory period within which appeals against being called up for service must be lodged is ten days from the date of the Gazette in which the result of the ballot appears,” the Minister said. "Reservists who wish to exercise this right must therefore see that their appeals are posted or delivered to the Director of National Service on or before March 14.”
