SAILORS' OUTING AT WEEKEND
A most enjoyable outing to Upper Hutt was organized on Saturday by the British Sailors’ Society., and a large number of seamen availed Hemselves of the opportunity to get into the country and see something of the beauties of the bush. For those energetically inclined there was football, which caused much excitement among the men of the different ships. _ Returning to the rooms, all did justice to a savoury tea served by the women workers, and then entered whole heartedly into a social entertainment organized by the young people .of the Lyall Bay Baptist Church. A large number visited the rooms again on Sunday, and among those present at tea were members of the Army and Air Force. The usual singsong aud evening service were held, und the remaining time before supper was spent informally and items were given by the visitors from Lyall Bay.
