Oiled Mittens For Seamen

That she had spoken to her husband about Captain A. V. Hale Monro’s suggestion of oiled mittens for the greater comfort of men of the sea and that he had expressed his willingness to submit a sample to the correct Navy Office authorities was mentioned by Mrs. W. The approximate cost of the mittens, without being oiled, would be fid. a pair, said Mrs. Tripp. Oiled mittens, worn over the woollen gloves at present in use, would prevent spray and rain soaking and, occasionally, freezing on the gloves—this latter experience being most painful Captain Monro said.
