Branch Reports Year Of Steady Progress

The annual meeting of the Oriental Bay-Roseneath branch of the Residential Nursery, was held at the home of Mrs. Burtoy, Oriental Parade. Those present were Mesdames Walshe (president, A. Longinore (secretary), H. Stringer (treasurer), Burton, Humcan, Alexander, Sheppard, Bo water, Phelan, Kissell, Thompson, Turner, Stwidius, Parkinson, Foster, Kennedy, Israel. Mrs. Porter, president of the management committee of the Residential Nursery, was in the chair. The secretary gave a resume of the year’s work. The work of the brunch had gone on steadily despite the unsettled times, it was reported. | At the end of the year, the committee gave a morning tea at the home of Mrs. Longinore, in honour of Mrs. Walshe and presented her with a token of their appreciation. Through the courtesy of Mrs. Burton, monthly meetings were held at her home. . Gifts In money and kind were received from Mesdames Withington Evans, Nelson, Murphy, Daird Bowie, Graham. Rotbnle, Burton, R. Scott and Price. A series of patriotic bridge parties held on alternate Thursdays has been so successful that in four months £145 was realized mid donations given to the Metropolitan Patriotic Fund, Victoria League Club in London for men of the forces, Navy League, soldiers’ pan els. Minesweepers’ Christinas cheer. These bridge parlies will be continued and proceeds will be divided among the queens in the Victory Carnival. At the first of these afternoons £lO was raised and given to the Transport Queen's fund. Many donations in money and kind were received. Officers were elected for 1041 as follows: —President, Mrs. T. F. Walshe (re-elected); secretary, Mrs. A. Longmore; treasurer, Mrs. SI ringer; vicepresidents, Mesdames Burton, Lundins, Kennedy, Cowjes, Israel: committee, Mesdames Turner, . Thehlil. Kissell. Duncan, Allendcr, Zander. Bowater, Thompson, Parkinson. Mrs. Porter spoke appreciatively of the work of the ollieers and committee and of the splendid results of the year’s work, £lll free of expenses being raised. She stressed the great need of the work now as never before.
