GOVERNMENT WILL DECIDE
L.R.C. Attitude Stated
The secretary Of the Wellington Labour Representation Committee, Mr. J. H. Collins, said yesterday that the question of the postponement or otherwise of the municipal elections had not been officially discussed recently. It was discussed at a meeting of the L.R.C. in September, when the following resolution was passed:— “In view of the conditions as they exist in New Zealand at present, we can see no reason why the local body elections should be postponed.” “Our organization for contesting the municipal elections is complete, and our candidates have been selected,” said Mr. Collins. “The question of postponement has not been discussed since the ' September meeting. The Wellington L.R.C. is confident that the Government is capable of deciding whether the elections should proceed or not, and the committee will, as iu all other considerations of importance, co-operate to the full and will accept the decision of the Government.”
