MESSAGE TO TURKEY
Mr. Eden’s Appreciation (British Official Wireless.)
RUGBY, March 2.
The text of the farewell message from Mr. Eden to the Turkish Foreign Ministqi; M. Saracoglu, according to the Ankara radio, was:—“l extend my warmest thanks, and those of General Sir John Dill, for the kind reception you have accorded us, which so manifestly brings into clear relief the ties’ of deep friendship existing between the Turkish and British nations. I want also to express our. gratitude to the President, the Government, and the nation.
“I have been greatly impressed by all I have seen of the modern Turks, the unity of purpose of the Turkish nation, the efficiency of the army, and the beauty of Ankara, and especially the spirit and sacrifice of the whole nation struck me as admirable. The President’s inspiring administration is undoubtedly directly responsible for this. Britain feels rightly proml of her alliance with Turkey." Mr. Eden and General Dill were given an enthusiastic, send-off.
