A correspondent of the Associated Press of America at Negotin said it was reported from Rumania that fires followed heavy explosions in the oilfields at. Ploesti. German sources blamed R.A.F. boombers. The Rumanian Government and also the manager of the Standard Oil Company’s works at Ploesti denied that the oilfields had been bombed.

A correspondent of the Associated Press of Great Britain at Negotin, Yugoslavia.'reported that following explosions at Ploesti all foreigners and Rumanians except those with military passes have been barred from the oil regions. Several squadrons of tindentified planes, flying high in the direction of the Rumanian frontier, today passed over Negotin. which is near Turnu Severin, Rumania. Rumania is being blacked out'for 10 hours every night from tonight.
