Vice-Regal.

The Governor-General, Sir Cyril Newall, and Lady 1 Newail received a formal welcome to Auckland at a civip reception held in the Town Hall yesterday. Their Excellencies were present in the evening at the opening of the New Zealand Municipal Conference. His Excellency will pay visits of inspection this morning to the Royal New Zealand Air Force -stations at Hobsonville and Whenuapai and in the afternoon to the naval dockyard ai Devonport and to HALS. Tamaki.

The Hon. F. Langstone, Minister of Lands, returned to Wellington yesterday from the King Country.

The Hou. 11. T. Armstrong, Minister of Public Works, is visiting the West Coast.

Mr. Barton Ginger left Wellington by last night’s interisland steamer express.

Dr. T. A. MacGibbou was a passenger by last night’s interisland steamer express from .Wellington. Mr. C. S. Luney, Christchurch, has been re-elected president of the New Zealand Builders’ Federation. The mayor of Lower Hutt, Mr. J. W. Andrews, and the town clerk, Mr. B. S. Knox, are attending the Municipal Conference hi Auckland. Mr. J. T. Spears, immediate past president of the New Zealand Mann fafturers’ Federation, left Wellington for the Sentli Island last night. The Hou. W. 11.
