Fair To Fine and Mild With Wind and Cloud Increasing Following is the weather report and forecast issued by the Meteorological Office, Wellington, for the 24 hours ending at 3 p.m. today General situation: An almost stationary anticyclone is centred over New Zealand. A vigorous depression is developing south of Tasmania. Forecast—Winds: Over the northern half of the North Island, light to moderate and variable; elsewhere moderate northerlies predominating and later becoming fresh’ or strong in Cook Strait. Seas (New-Zealand waters) : Rather rough In and about Cook Strait; elsewhere slight to moderate. Eastern Tasman Sea: Moderate and variable winds with northerlies gradually prevailing in the southern portion. Slight to moderate seas. Weather fair to fine with increasing cloud in western districts Tempeia tures rising in eastern districts; mild in the west. WELLINGTON DISTRICT FORECAST UP TO 6 P.M. TODAY.— North westerly winds, mainly moderate in force but becoming fresh or strong during the day in and about Cook Strait. Weather fair to fine and mild. ° Sea rather rough in the strait; elsewhere moderate FURTHER OUTLOOK. — Cloud and wind increasing.
