PATRIOTIC CONCERT J. C. Williamson’s Company
At the Opera House, Wellington, on Sunday night, the members of the J. U. Williiiinsou Gilbert and Suliiv.in Opera Company will present a concert, the whole of the receipts of which will be donated to the movie queen's fund in the Victory Queen Carnival. Tlie members of tlie company have gone to no end of trouble in their efforts) to assure Hie success of the occasion, and the programme of solos, concerted numbers, ami choruses promises to be the best ever presented by a theatrical company in Wellington. Tlie Gilbert ami Sullivan orchestra will begin the concert with the overture from "The Pirates of Penzance,” then in Hie order named tlie following items will eventuate: "The Merriest Fellows Are We." from "The Gondoliers," by the chorus; song, to lie selected, by John Fullard; "Musetta's Song." from "La Bolmme," by Miss Viola Wilson; "The Cachuelm." from "The Gondoliers, by Ihe chorus: "Due Day M hen \\ e \\ eic Young," by' .Miss Sara Gregory; operatic number by Mr. Richard Watson; Li.glHs of London." by Miss Peggy Shen; violin solo, Scottish melodies, by Miss Isabel I.anglands; "Simon the Cellarer." by Mr Bernard Manning; "Well All Remember." by Miss Phyllis Curnow; song, to be selected, by Maxwell Oldnker; "Hail Poetrv.” from "The Pirates of Penzance, by the whole of the choristers, and ''Land of Hope and Glory." by Miss Evelyn Gardiner nml the Gilbert and Sullivan chorus. Probably never previously has such a galaxy of distinguisheiKartists appeared on one concert programme in New Zealand.
