Introduced To Supporters At Afternoon The lovely home of Mr. and Mrs. G. S. .Amos, Karori, was the scene of an informal afternoon lea this week to introduce Miss Patricia Luckie, the re-cently-elected Queen of Commerce, and Aliss Wenda Amos, the Manufacturers’ Princess. Mr. and Mrs. Amos entertained wives and executive members of tlie manufacturers’ association iu the lounge, which was tastefully decorated with Howers. Mr. G. 11. Jackson, president of the manufacturers’ association, Mr. Stevens, and .Air. J. Abel, organizer for the Queen Carnival, were also present. Afternoon tea was served, after which Miss Luckie thanked rhe guests for their attendance and assured them of her determination to do everything possible .to assist in the success of the carnival. Miss Amos also spoke, and assured Aliss Luckie that with the help of the manufacturers’ association and the many committees already working on her behalf, she would give the campaign all her energy. Aliss Amos read three, letters she had received which had accompanied cheques totalling £37 to open her campaign. Mr. Jackson briefly outlined progress up to the present of the commerce activities and suggested that the women present should form a committee to raise funds. This was agreed upon. Airs. A. 11. Stevens was elected chairman, and Airs. Alarshall, jun., secretary. Arrangements were made to meet later in the week to formulate further plans. During the afternoon a cake made by Airs. Turvey was raffled among the guests and the sum of £2/6/3 was added to the funds. The cake was won by Mrs. D. Sutton. The sale of princess badges resulted in the total sum from sales being Increased to £4O/7/-. On behalf of the guests Air. Jackson thanked the host and hostess for a most enjoyable afternoon and intimated that the formation of the proposed women’s committee would greatly strengthen the Commerce Queen organization.
