Tlie damage iu Portugal is estimated at £10.000,900. One estimate says there were 500 deaths. The beam crop was destroyed, orange groves flattened and 100,000 olive trees rooted up. In one small fishing port alone COO boats were dashed to pieces. Wrecks of larger ships are constantly reported along the coast.
