SHELLING OF GENOA
Heavier Damage Announced
LONDON. February 18.
More details have been revealed in London today of the effects of the naval bombardment of Genoa, and they show that electrical services were interrupted, and railways and trams were at a standstill after the shelling. A gasometer burnt all day. A troopship in the old dry dock was hit. Large fires were caused at the Ansaldo electrical and boiler works, the main power station, dry docks, and inner harbour. There were also hits on oil tanks, goods yards, and merchant ships. Various buildings in the industrial district were hit. ami great damage was done to wharves and warehouses.
The moral effect of the bombardment lias been considerable, and the material damage even greater than at lirsl believed.
