TALKS BEGUN IN PARIS
Vichy Minister And Nazi
Ambassador
LONDON, February .18.
The Vichy Vice-Premier, Admiral Darlan, arrived in Paris this afternoon, according to the German news agency, and began his conversations with the German Ambassador. M. Laval is in Paris, and it is reported that Admiral Darlan will also see him.
Before Admiral Darlan left for Paris he bad a long conference with the Vichy War Minister and the Minister of Finance. M. Laval has remained in Paris since he refused Marshal Petain’s offer of a post in the Vichy Government. So far, there is no indication as to what the discussions will be about, but it is known that the Germans do not regard the matter of the French navy and naval bases as closed.
