'Hie Berlin radio claims that German warships attacked a British convoy west of Portugal and san--13 large armed merchantmen heavily laden with war supplies. It is admitted in London that German surface ships attacked a convoy in the Atlantic. A spokesman in Berlin said this a large-scale operation in which surface ships, submarines, and aeroplanes took part. The vessels sunk i" chl ‘Kd several big liners. The convoy uas completely scattered.
