NEGLIGENT DRIVING

To a ebarge that on January 10 be negligently drove a motor-ear in Symonds Street thereby causing bodily injury to Leonard Nixon Bean, aged 71, who was alighting from a tram-car. a plea of guilty entered by Daniel McKenney, aged 40, motor truck driver, employed by the Salvation Army. He was committed to the Supreme Court for sentence. A further charge of being in a state of intoxication while in charge of a truck was denied by McKenney and the hearing on this charge was held over. The police said Beau was 31 days in hospital. A taxi driver, accompanied by a detective, who was on the tram, pursued and overtook the truck nearly a mile away.
