STRUCK BY TRAIN
Railway Worker Seriously Injured Dominion Special Service PALMERSTON N„ Feb. 13. An employee of the Railways Department. Mr. Edward Farnan, is in Palmerston North Hospital with serious injuries which he received when be was struck by a train near Shannon, lie is a young married man whose home is at 28 Mill Road, Brooklyn, Wellington. Mr. Farnan was walking along the side of the railway line near a crossing north of Shannon while a mixed train was approaching, and apparently thinking it was keeping to the main line, he turned onto a loop line. The train did likewise, and .Mr. Farnan was struck in the back and carried for 30 yards on to the cattlestops. He was given first aid treatment by the station staff and Inter removed Io I’almersioii Nori Ii hospital with laceraiions Io Hie Im,-i,| and a fractured skull. His condition was reported today to be still serious.
